How a website build works, start to finish
What happens from the first conversation to the day your site goes live, what we need from you, and what happens after.
The short version
- You tell us about your business. We write the pages and build the site.
- The build takes a few days once we have your photos and info.
- You look it over before anything goes live. After that, you text us changes.
First, a conversation
We start with your business: what you do, where you work, and what kind of jobs or customers you want more of. That shapes everything else, from which pages you need to what the first screen says.
You don't need to know anything about websites. If you can describe your business to a customer, that's enough.
What we'll ask you for
Getting these early is the biggest thing that keeps a build quick.
- Your logo, if you have one
- Photos of your work, your team, or your place. Phone photos are fine
- The services you offer, and the towns or area you serve
- Your hours, phone number, and email
- Access to your domain, or we'll help you get one in your name
We write the words
Most owners dread writing their own website. You don't have to. We write every page the way your customers talk, and you check that it's right. If something's off, tell us and we fix it.
You see it before anyone else
We send you a private link to the finished site. Look at it on your phone, show it to whoever you want, and send changes. Two rounds of design changes are included before launch.
Going live
When you're happy, we connect your domain and it's up. If you're replacing an old site, every old page address points to the closest new page, so links people saved and the spot you'd earned on Google carry over.
After launch
This is where most websites fall apart, and where ours keep going. We host it, keep it secure, and watch that it stays up. You text or email changes and they get done: as many as you want for the first 60 days, then 2 a month. Every month you get a short report on how it's doing.
